Holiday Safety Notes

Lets focus on everyone enjoying the holidays, and getting home safely…

Workplace Safety habits work best when the message you give your fellow workers is one that they can take home with them that extends into keeping them and their families safe as well.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa all happen between Mid November and about the beginning of January.    Depending upon peoples situation and inclination these holidays may bring excess of food, drink, travel, stress, fatigue and hurry.  All of those things may end up negatively impacting their families and your workplace.

Since people are our most valuable resource, and since replacing someone who doesn’t make it back to work from the holidays is potentially so expensive it makes sense to focus on workplace safety, and holiday safety.

Ladders, and lights, and trees, oh my!… People put up lights on their houses, using the ladder that may or may not be adequate for the job, a ladder safety talk is timely around the holidays.

Driving under the influence of too much pumpkin pie, while tired, in the rain or snow, in the dark, while everyone wants to get there first is a great way to end up on the side of the road.  Time management and wellness discussions are also a valid holiday reminder.

Remember sometimes slow and steady is really fast, when it lets you arrive on time.  Following to close to the vehicle in front of you, while talking on  a cell phone may slow travels to a stop, possibly permanently.

In the event of an emergency on the road, do your coworkers and family members know what to do?  Do they have flashlights, blankets, a cell phone?  Emergency flares?  Possibly the number to your insurance company for road side assistance?  Lets focus on everyone enjoying the holidays, and getting home safely so that our next year starts with our full team of friends families, and coworkers!
